Range:
The southern Sierra Madre Oriental in Puebla and Veracruz, the Mesa del Sur in Oaxaca and in the Sierra Madre del Sur Guerrero.

Habitat:
Lives at the conifer boundary height. There are animals found under logs and waste, but also in oak forests and conifer forests. It also was found swimming along the banks of ponds and streams.

Food:
Mainly invertebrates and amphibians. A newly-caught specimen disgorged a mouse, so mammals will also be on the menu.

Specifics:
Average length is 40 to 50 cm. A maximum of about 60 cm. Lives at altitudes between 1800 and 3000 meters. About the lifestyle of this species nothing is known.
